It’s not polite to play with your food—unless, of course, it’s in the name of charity. Postponed from last November due to Hurricane Sandy, the rescheduled hunger benefit hosted by the Society for Design Administration asks teams of engineers, designers and architects to create towering sculptures out of 100,000 cans of food. Last year’s entries included a one-ton Converse sneaker, a replica of the Standard Hotel and a giant Angry Bird. The exhibit doubles as a food drive: Visitors are encouraged to bring nonperishable canned items (families, schools and offices can take on this year’s “20 Can Challenge”), and after two weeks all “building materials” will be donated to City Harvest. Go to worldfinancialcenter.com/canstruction for more information.

World Financial Center, 220 Vesey Street, NY, NY 10080
